About Me

My Sleep Story

I never used to consider myself a good sleeper. I had issues falling asleep, staying asleep, and feeling energized during the day. I got through most of my life settling for poor quality sleep.

My sleep got exponentially worse after the birth of my child.  As a business owner I couldn’t take maternity leave and my company was expanding at the same time as my son was born.  I was struggling to keep up with both my personal and professional life. I was irritable, stressed out, exhausted, physically sick and doing just about anything to get some rest.  On the outside, I got through each day as best I could. On the inside, I was falling apart.

After almost two years, I was officially burnt out.  I sought professional counselling, and I was encouraged to get my sleep in order before tackling other issues in my life. I worked on treating my insomnia and it was a completely transformative experience.

Through education, lifestyle, and behavioural changes I was able to successfully achieve unaided, quality sleep.

Looking back, I didn’t realize how much my sleep difficulties were affecting every aspect of my life, including my parenting, physical health, job satisfaction and performance, relationships, emotional well-being, and my overall view on the world.

As I resolved my sleep issues, I was sharing my experience with everyone in my life, and I discovered that I was not alone.  I also discovered that most people don’t know that there are sleep solutions out there.  So, I studied.  And I learned.  And I listened.  And I started helping others on their sleep journeys, holistically and empathetically, because I’ve been where they are.

Currently I’m loving life, living in downtown Toronto with my lovely husband and 5-year-old son, enjoying good food, good music and an appetite for travel and new experiences.
